The residents of Islamorada,
As your candidate for Village Council this November 5th, I’m running to address the urgent issues at The Fills, a place that has become a painful reminder of how little has changed—and how much worse things have gotten.
For years, The Fills has been overrun by day-trippers who leave behind trash, damage our environment, and disturb our community. Despite taking control of the area in 2020, the Village has failed to implement the improvements promised to protect our coastline. Meanwhile, we, the residents, are stuck paying the bill—thousands of dollars for cleanup, while key projects like environmental protections remain stalled.
This isn't just about broken promises. It's about respecting the beauty of our home and ensuring that our tax dollars aren’t wasted on patchwork solutions that don’t solve the real problem. I’m running to demand action—to protect our natural resources, reduce wasteful spending, and hold our leaders accountable.
It’s time for change, and it starts with taking The Fills back for our community.
Sincerely,
Mary Barley, Candidate for Village Council Seat 3
Let’s make Islamorada work for us again.
